Space
Ms. Shen has pretty bad teeth. She is 7 years old. Two baby molars have lost to cavities too early. The first permanent bicuspid (Fig.1 B1) comes out in a wrong place, i.e., in the middle of the space between the baby canine (C) and the first permanent molar (M). A special device, called space regainer (Fig.2 * with springs) is installed between the first bicuspid and the molar. In one month, the first bicuspid moves to where it is supposed to be (Fig.3). There is enough space for the 2nd bicuspid to come out in the near future (Fig.4 B2)! A new device, called space maintenance (Fig.3 without springs), is used to keep the space until the new comer (B2) is born.
