Fig.3 The gums on cheek side were in bad shape upon extraction (<) .   #4 is a neighboring tooth, the second premolar.  In fact, the big black hole inside the socket is the opening toward the sinus.  A soft bandage is used to cover the wound to help healing (Fig.3').
