IAC seats or not (Part II)
It appears that when an IAC or Bicon abutment is completely seated, there are two threads inside 3 mm implant well.
The implant wells for Sergio are 2.5 mm (#7) and 2.0 mm (#8). The two thread theory may not hold. The taper of 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm implant/abutment is 6 degrees, whereas that of 2.5 is less than 6 degrees. There is much less chance for 2.5 mm abutment dislodges from the implant well.
Anyway, two threads do not mean complete seating for smaller diameter wells (Fig.1).
When the IACs were re-tapped in more secure manner by Carmen, the new X-ray reveals something unexpected and interesting (Fig.2). What do you see?
As we expect, IAC dislodges when the patient is eating. Instead, these two crowns were found loose in the morning. He must eat or grind crazily when he sleeps. He forgot to wear the lower night guard that night. We are going to make a night guard for the upper jaw for him. No matter how crazy he is at night, these two IACs are fully protected. Does it sound reasonable?
By the way, why is the image in Fig.1 not as good as that of Fig.2? How can you get the image of Fig.2 every time?
