How to Place Neighboring Implants Parallel to Each Other (Part V)?
Implants at the site of #3 and 5 were placed for Kent a month earlier. Immediately before placing a third one in between, something had been done for the first two implants in preparation for guidance. Can you guess what that is?
In fact, healing screws had been removed (Fig.1). There is space inside the well of the implant #5 and less obvious in that of #3 (because its wall is thicker). When implants tilt, the opening of the wells is visible (Fig.2-4).
A post guide (Fig.2: P) was inserted to the well of #5 implant as a guide for #4 pilot drill and continually for a drill with larger diameter (Fig. 3 D). Implant placement was a breeze (Fig.4). Two months later, three of the straight abutments (0 degree) were also parallel to each other.
All of these is due to the fact of insertion of a post guide into the well of the existing implant. Is that a wonderful guide for next implant?
Another beauty of this case is that the pilot drill is used. In case the trajectory is not right, it is easy to correct. In contrast it is not in the later stage of implantation.
