Lingual Retainer (Finish Ortho)
- To prevent relapse, retainers should be fabricated after removal of
brackets and bands. There are two types of retainer: fixed and
removable. Lingual retainer is a fixed type, whereas Hawley appliance
or suction down appliance is removable
- Preparation for lingual retainer includes Basic
- Ortho Jug: 3-prong pliers, arch contouring pliers, large wire cutter
- Bracket/band remover (from ortho drawer)
- .032 twisted wire (2 containers: use one with less, shorter wires; from
ortho drawer)
- Handpieces (high, slow), gingival retraction instrument, polishing cup,
pumice
- Alginate, trays (small, medium, large, at least two of them) to make
Hawley appliance or suction down appliance
- Acid etch, prime & bond, composite, light cure
- Cotton rolls (2-3), 2x2 (1), Cavitron, prophy cup and pumice
