Palatal Placement of One Piece Implants in Narrow Ridges
A 60-year-old man is partially edentulous; A 6-unit (#6-10) bridge has been in function for more than 10 years (Fig.1). The connection between #8 and 9 pontics breaks lately. The edentulous ridges are narrow (Fig.2-5), especially at #7 and 10. One piece implants (2.5x14 and 3x14 mm) are planned to be placed at the lateral and central incisor sites, respectively. They should be placed as palatal (P in Fig.2) as possible.
For example at the site of #8 (Fig.6), start osteotomy 1 mm palatal to the crest (red line). As the first pilot drill (1.2 mm) enters the cortex, the trajectory is changed (Fig.7 green curved arrow).
