Due to ridge atrophy (Fig.2 arrowheads), a smaller, but longer implant is placed at the site of #12 (Fig.9: 4x17 mm (insertion torque 45 Ncm), as compared to 5x14 mm at the site of #13). An abutment is temporarily placed over the implant at the site of #13 to hold perio dressing (D) in place. Alternatively, immediate provisionals are splinted and placed. Immediate provisional is an effective way to close the extraction socket and keep bone graft and membrane in place.
