I am a general practitioner in Atlanta, Georgia. We have sent CBCT DICOM file electronically and PVS impression by mail to a lab in Los Angels, California for surgical guide for implant for more than 3 years. The mail may take as long as 7 days to deliver. The turn around time for guide is usually more than 2 weeks. This is not good for emergency cases. Finally we purchased Shining Oral Scanner. STL file from the scanner is able to be sent to the lab in no time. But for safety, we still send impression for first 10 cases in case our scanning is imperfect. Last Tuesday we got good scan for a case (Fig.1) and decided not to send impression in the same time.
