Exostosis

A 57-year-old man has lost the tooth #9 for 1-2 weeks (Fig.1,2).  Although the buccal gingiva is recessive (cosmetically compromised), the middle and apical one thirds of the buccal plate appear to be minimally atrophic because of exostosis (Fig.1 *).  An implant will be placed as palatal as possible (Fig.3).  Use bone gauge to measure bone width.  If the alveolus is atrophic, either use 3.5x13 mm implant or 1-piece (DIO or Tatum if there is a angulation problem).  Prepare Planning Kit if IS implant is used.  Adjust the opposing implant FPD, if needed.
