Socket Preservation with Osteogen Plug

A 34-year-old man (smoker (4 cigarettes per day)) has advanced periodontitis (Fig.1).  After upper quadrant SRP, the teeth #14 and 15 are extracted with removal of granulation tissue from #14 palatal socket.  Following copious irrigation with NS, a 10x20 mm Osteogen plug is inserted into #14 and 15 sockets.  The plug is fixed in place with 4-0 Chromic Gut suture (2 of figure-8 fashion, Fig.2).
