A healing abutment (8.2 x (4(3) mm) is placed (Fig.4).   The buccal and lingual flaps are approximated mesial and distal to the abutment. 

There is tension for approximation of the flaps after placement of bone graft and coverage with membrane.  The presence of the abutment alleviates the tension.
