Fig.6: Preop CBCT coronal section of the lower right 1st molar edentulous area.  The cortex is thick, but the crest is narrow.  Therefore a small diameter implant with subcrestal placement is designed (4x8 mm).   The buccal (B) and/or lingual (L) plates may be perforated.  Bone graft and guided bone regeneration are prepared.  In contrast, osteotomes or bone expansion kit is not indicated for the lower jaw.
