Fig.1 At higher magnification, you may see more clearly a thin yellowish layer of film on the upper front teeth.  The film is called also plaque, formed by germs which can cause cavities and gum disease.  At this young age ~10, children do not have desire or motivation to brush well.  This situation changes dramatically once braces are removed and children note that their teeth are so beautiful.  They have motivation to brush well.  See enlarged Fig.2 or go back to main page of this lecture.
