Fig.24: Implant uncover is a surgical procedure to open up the healed implant into the oral cavity. Basically, it creates a hole for impression taking. A temporary abutment (A) is inserted to keep the hole open and to push the gums outward (arrow). It helps create a cosmetic environment (bulging gums) for the implant.
This photo is taken one day after uncover. The gums appear reddish and swollen, but the patient is doing fine. There is no pain.
