Why To Bury Implant?
Why to
decorticate? (Got it from website, but I understand what they are
saying.)
1. The biologic rationale for
decortication of bone is to allow progenitor cells easy access to bone graft
site and to facilitate prompt angiogenesis.
2. It also may enhance the
physical connection between a bone graft and a recipient site.
Why
to bury implant?
1. Patient's opposing tooth is supraerupted. There are not enough space for
healing abutment.
2. submerged implant (5.3x10 mm)
is placed with insertion torque approximately 35 Ncm, I think for 35 Ncm, it
is safer to close the incision. For Tapered implant we reached more than 60
Ncm most of the time, and they never fall out. Doctor Wei, do you think if
we close the incision to bury the implant for Miss shi (tooth 13), then
there would be less chance for the implant to fall out? I remember her
implant was placed 35Ncm, and we placed healing abutment immediately.
3. The buccal microthreads are
exposed, it is better to close the incision to let the new bone to grow
around it.(I guess) Jenny Sheets
Jenny: It is excellent research, thinking and observation. Miss Shi's
implant is a little too small and too short to hold a healing
abutment. Gravity is also against us. Her oral hygiene is poor.
I do learn the lesson from it. Thanks.
Hi! Dr. Wei , this may be the
reason that I think.
Why the buccal
plate had to decorticate ?
This is done
for the regenerative procedures which have been utilized to restore lost
alveolar bone. And also that the graft- and/or membrane-regenerated bone has
the ability to support implants. In an attempt to minimize alveolar ridge
deformities. Finally, this step helps in great loss of buccal plate and
helps the implant to be in place.
Please, correct me if I am
wrong.
Thank you!

Suniti....
Suniti: I really appreciate your effort. Please read what Jenny
wrote for reference. Thanks again.
