Plan Well Beforehand
Phase II orthodontic treatment for a male lasts 3.5 years (from 13 years old to 16 years 8 months). The upper right lateral (Fig.2: #12 (pronounced one two)) needs more torque; it would be the best to place brackets upside down for both #12 and 22. Study the angulation and position of the blocked out lateral (Fig.5) carefully initially and have a good plan. Use power chains longer period of time so that the upper incisors do not look protrusive (Fig.4) with no space between them (Fig.2). Due to noncompliance, the upper 2nd molars are not re-positioned correctly (Fig.6 (#17,27)). The cement should have been removed prior to impression for postop model and retainers (Fig.6 *). The alignment of the lower arch, especially anterior segment, is impressive (compare Fig.7,8), to the patient's mother as early as after phase I treatment.
