When the tooth #8 is extracted, two types of pathology are noted: fistula (Fig.1 perio probe) and loss of the buccal plate (Fig.2).

To eradicate the infection is critical.  There is abundant granulation tissue in the socket.  After thorough and repeated debridement, the buccal soft tissue feels thin, probably related to removal of the periosteum.  It may interfere with bone regrowth.
