The depth is increased by 2 mm so that when a 3.8x15 mm implant is placed, there is 10-11 mm implant/bone contact (Fig.2 red line). Insertion torque is less than 30 Ncm. If bone height were shown more than earlier, a longer implant could be used (16 or 18 mm) with higher placement torque.
The narrow implant (3.8 mm) is chosen so that there will be enough buccal gap for bone graft and collagen membrane, considering loss of the buccal plate.
