Distal view of socket impression of the affected tooth (Fig.4) shows that the palatal (P) socket is larger than its root, suggesting more severe bone loss palatally than buccally. In fact the palatal plate is lower than the buccal one. Therefore the osteoomy will be initiated in the buccal socket, exactly the palatal slope of the buccal socket (red dashed line in Fig.6).
