Since the edentulous ridge at #4 is wide buccopalatally (Fig.1), Magic Split (IBS) is used to obtain access to the underlying bone and for bone density test. The blade-like osteotome gains 7 mm deep and 3 mm wide mesiodistally. The access makes it easy for the subsequent osteotomy with drills and/or osteotomes. The unsalvageable tooth #3 is kept temporarily as a surgical reference for #4 implant placement.
