Provisional to Support Buccal Gingiva A 67-year-old woman with Parkinson disease has sign of several tooth chip. The tooth #3 fractures mesiodistally 1 year 7 months post cementation of the crown at #2. Take photos to show the crack line. After extraction (Metronidazole), explore the socket to determine bone integrity. If the septal crest is wide, use 1.6 drill (take 1st PA PRN) and Marking Bur before 4.3 mm Magic Drill. Otherwise use sequential drills, or alternating with Magic Expander if the bone is soft. No matter whether IBS (Fig.1) or Tatum (Fig.2) implant is placed, an immediate provisional will be fabricated so that the margin of the provisional is subgingival to prevent buccal plate collapse and bone graft leakage.
