Incisive Canal and Lower Incisor Immediate Implant: CBCT study
The incisive canal (Fig.1,2: I) is the anterior extension of the inferior alveolar canal (IA) after the latter gives rise to the mental nerve (circle). The terminal segment of the incisive canal (T or arrowheads in Fig.1) is located between the lower central (1) and lateral (2) incisors (3: lower canine).
After extraction of the central (Fig.3 black area), osteotomy for an immediate implant (Fig.4 white outline) should have a chance to violate the integrity of the terminal segment of the incisive canal, causing hemorrhage. Once the implant is placed, the hemorrhage should be able to stop.
