CT taken 3 weeks postop reveals that the 5x17 mm implant may invade the upper border of the Inferior Alveolar Canal/Nerve (N) (Fig.10 coronal section).

The primary stability of the implant depends on contact with septal struts (S) and apical new bone (between arrowheads).

A shorter implant (5x14 mm) may still be able to achieve primary stability by engaging mainly to the septal struts and 1 mm of apical new bone (Fig.11).
