The most unexpected finding is the formation of the papillae (Fig.11 *) when the permanent crown is seated. The cosmetic result is due to immediate placement of the large implant. With delayed placement and bone loss, the cosmetic result is by far less ideal.
Two and a half months post cementation, the buccal metal show is much less and confined to the midbuccal portion. It appears that the papillae increase their mesiodistal dimension (data not shown). This patient does not report food impaction around the implant crown. Food impaction appears to be more likely to occur when a bone level implant is placed and the diameter of the abutment is not large enough.
