The coronal section shows the pointed ridge (Fig.2 *). For easy implant placement and reduction in thread exposure, the ridge will be trimmed flat (Fig.3 (black area)). A 5-mm implant will be placed (Fig.2). The ridge is flattened ~ 7 mm wide (~1 mm buccal (B) and lingual to the implant, Fig.3). In fact the the ridge is better trimmed more or less concave so that bone graft may be more readily kept in place.
