Pointed Ridge at #19
A 56-year-old man decides to have an implant at #19 after those at #13 and 14 (Fig.1 (S: CT stent)). The coronal section shows the pointed ridge (Fig.2 *). For easy implant placement and reduction in thread exposure, the ridge will be trimmed flat (Fig.3 (black area), or more exactly (funnel shaped Fig.4 (arrowheads to accommodate the shape of the cemented abutment (pink)) or concave (Fig.6)). After placing a 5x10 mm UF implant (green), bone graft to be placed (Fig.5,7 red circles) remains in place followed by collagen dressing (Fig.7 yellow lines).
Since the bone density is low (100-400 U), the last drill will be one for a 4.5 mm implant (underprep). To save the autogenous bone, reduce drill speed to 50 RPM when starting using the drill for 3.8 mm implant.
