The socket is extremely large with intact walls clinically. When a 8x17 mm tapered tap is inserted, it is loose (Fig.3).  Taking this intraop PA is particularly important, because it is possible that the inflammation may have penetrated the upper border of the Inferior Alveolar Canal in the last 8 months.  Even curettage may even damage the nerve inside the Canal.  Before dropping this tap, curettage of the bottom of the socket is cautious.  Once the PA is taken, curettage is more aggressive.  Since the bottom of the socket is close to the Canal, no drill is to be used for osteotomy.
