The implant is planned to be placed along the long axis of the tooth for the best restorative result (Fig.2).  The tissue-level implant is placed ~ 3 mm above the distal crest so that implant threads may be less likely exposed postop.  A 8 mm implant is to be placed to close the socket as much as possible and avoid bone graft.  Two problems associated with using a large implant.  It is difficult to prepare the mesial (M) subcrestal margin.  The large implant may invade the buccal plate and causes it to be resorbed.
