Fig.3 (magnified mirror image, preop): The gingiva of the buccal furca (between arrowheads, or between the mesiobuccal and distobuccal roots (MB, DB) appears to be healthy with the epithelium presumbably.
Fig.4 (magnified mirror image, immediately post extraction): Granulation tissue should be removed from the mesiobuccal and distobuccal sockets, but the gingiva over the septum (S) should remain undisturbed, since the latter is presumed to be healthy as mentioned above. It will provide the epithelium to populate the buccal sockets after extraction.
Fig.9 (magnified image, one week post immediate implantation): The mesiobuccal and distobuccal sockets have apparently been healing. The gingiva appears to grow from the septum (black arrowheads) and nearby gingiva (white arrowheads).
The buccal gingiva looks normal 3 months postop (Fig.10 healing cuff is placed over the implant).
