Fig.6 (CT coronal section): As compared to tooth #8 (9 mm), the ridge at the site of #9 is narrower (5.3 mm). A smaller, 4x20 mm, tapered implant is placed. With bone expansion, a slightly larger implant may be placed (4.5 mm in diameter). Or D1 implant is used (3.5 mm buccolingual width at crest, 4.0 mm mesiodistal width at crest, 20 mm length).
There is a cortical plate (>, probably part of the nasopalatine canal), to which the implant will be tightly engaged.
Since one of the supernumerary teeth (S2) is palatal, an incision will be made in the palatal gingival sulcus.
