When a definitive restoration is placed 15 months postop, there is distobuccal gingival recession (Fig.11).  S: smooth surface of the implant; *: rough surface of the implant.

The buccal bulging (arrowheads) may be related to thin or no buccal plate.  Bone graft at time of immediate implant may decrease the likelihood.
