Narrow Implant for Molar
A 53-year-old woman needs an implant at #19, since the implant abutment/crown at #3 becomes loose while a crown is being made for the tooth #18 after RCT (Fig.1). As the mesiodistal space is ~ 8 mm (Fig.1) and the buccolingual width of the ridge is not wide, a narrow implant (e.g., 4x11 mm) is indicated to avoid implant thread exposure. If the osteotomy deviates slightly distal apically (Fig.1 green line vs. dashed line), there is less likelihood of damage to the Mental Loop (red dashed line).
