In fact the mesial crest is resorbed 3.5 months postop (Fig.9 M, as compared to that of preop and immediate postop in Fig.0,1).  Continuous resorption may be associated with food impaction when a permanent crown is delivered.  The mesial crest does not look so atrophic 6 months postop (Fig.10).  The preventive remedy would be socket shield, mesial and distal (Fig.0' M, D).
