Mesiobuccal Abscess of 2nd Lower Molar
A 59-year-old woman has a mesiobuccal abscess at #31 (Fig.1, possible root fracture), while #30 is missing and replaced with a flipper. After extraction, osteotomy will be initiated distolingual for 4 mm (pink line). Do not lean too lingual apically. If the lingual perforates, place bone graft before placing as small and shallow an implant as possible. Check for perforation after each drill. The patient will return for CBCT one day before surgery. Also take photo for the abscess.
