Magicore: Low Torque
After osteotomy according to drill sequence except no tap at #18, a 5x9 mm FC at #19 achieves insertion torque at 20 Ncm, while a.4.5x9(3) mm Magicore <10 Ncm (Fig.1,2), probably due to the fact the core (middle portion) of Magicore is small, dictating underprep (in diameter) when the bone is not hard. In addition, IS implant driver cannot be engaged to Magicore so that the placement of the latter is free hand. Because of supraeruption of the opposing teeth, the abutment at #19 is heavily reduced, whereas the Magicore is placed super low (Fig.2). The latter may be backed up or crown lengthening is necessary. In fact neither is necessary, since there is crestal bone loss at #18 nearly 3 months postop (Fig.3 *). There is no difficulty in placing 4.5 mm healing cuff.
