Cortical Bone Graft

A 77-year-old woman agrees to have the lower right 2nd premolar extracted after lengthy delay (Fig.1,2 buccolingual plate present, but low) and grafted (Fig.3 *).  Cortical graft is heavily packed, covered by a small piece of 6-month membrane and sutured with 4-0 Chromic gut suture.  The socket is closed 7 days postop (Fig.4).   The buccal plate seems to have been reformed 6 months postop (Fig.5,7, as compared to Fig.6 (pre-fracture)).  Return to No Deviation Surgery  Xin Wei, DDS, PhD, MS 1st edition 08/19/2020, last revision 05/12/2021
