A 66-year-old man has moderate to severe chronic periodontitis. After scaling & root planing, he will return for #2 and 13 residual root removal (Fig.1,2). The latter will be done in the traditional non-sterile manner except Chlorhexidine mouth rinse and Iodine application as usual.
