Dental Education Lecture: Amazing Dentures

Dave is afraid of dentist and has avoided proper dental care for long time.  Finally one of bottom front teeth falls out by itself (Fig.1).  One of top front teeth is going to come out at any given time (#8 in Fig.1).  Exam shows that all of top teeth and most of bottom teeth need to be taken out due to severe gum disease (Fig.1,3,5,7).  Fig. 7 shows biting surface view of the bottom teeth.  We are going to save five relatively savable teeth (labeled with X). Before extraction, we take impression for making immediate complete denture for top jaw and temporary partial denture for bottom jaw (Fig.2,4,6,8).  How beautiful they are!  Dave is going to look younger and more handsome after extraction and wearing these amazing dentures.  If you do not believe the life-changing effect, take a look here.

After a couple months of wearing immediate dentures, we need to make final dentures.  Because gums shrink a lot after extraction.
