Implant Stronger Than Natural Teeth
Mr. Xu had a missing tooth, lateral incisor, #7, which is replaced by an implant (Fig.1,2). Last week an accident broke the canine (Fig.3,4: #6) and forced the central incisor out with mobility (#8, arrow). The implant tooth is alright and is used to splint the loose and displaced tooth (#8 in Fig.5) in place. It appears that an implant is stronger than our natural teeth. It is the best restoration for missing tooth/teeth. Unfortunately the traumatized tooth remains loose 3 months later when the splint is removed. On the other hand, a removable partial denture, old styled tooth-replacing device, has no protection for our teeth against trauma.
