Bone Loss Around Buccal Roots

A 40-year-old man develops an abscess around the buccal roots of the tooth #15 several years after extraction of the symptomatic tooth #16.  The pattern of infection is similar to that between #17 and 18.  There is severe bone loss (Fig.1 *) around the fused buccal roots (Fig.2).  It appears that an immediate implant (green) placed in the septum (Fig.4) has better position and angulation for restoration than the one placed in the palatal socket (Fig.3).  Pink: cuff of abutment (blue); yellow: Osteogen Plug; red: bone graft.
