One Piece Implants for Lower Incisors

A 45-year-old man (RB, smoker) has generalized moderate to severe chronic periodontitis (Fig.1-6).  Next appointment treatment consists of scaling & root planing for the lower teeth and placement of 1-piece implants at #24 and 26.  The socket of the latter will be treated with Clindamycin after extraction.  If the edentulous ridge is narrow, an incision will be made.  DIO 1 piece implants are routinely used, whereas angled ones are backup.  The patient insists upon saving #26 (Fig.4); implants will be placed at #24 and 25.  Ideally, implants are placed at #24 and 26 with a 3-unit bridge (Fig.3,4).  Crown forms will be tried at #24 and 26.  Acrylic will be used to join them and then reline them (2 separate steps).
