When the trajectory is changed, the implant loses stability. When a 5.5x9 mm implant is placed, no stability is achieved (Fig.6). A lot of bone is being removed when the existing implant is removed in this case. The bone is not dense. When a larger implant is placed, it may be pushed more distally due to the fact that the mesial wall of the osteotomy (socket) is higher. Since the osteotomy depth is limited, primary stability is insufficient.
