The sockets of #27,28 are being treated with gauze soaked in 2% Xylocaine/1.:50,000 Epinephrine as control group of the antibiotic study.
The high concentration of Epinephrine may contribute to hemostasis, which is important to removing granulation tissue from the sockets (clear surgical site, visibility).
