Can an implant be placed next to an infected tooth?
Ideally an infection, particularly endodontic, should be eradicated prior to (1,2), at the same time or shortly after implantation. What happens if a patient refuses treatment on the infected tooth following immediate implant on a neighboring tooth? Sometime the infection may be subtle, leading to post-implant infection. Immediate implant may be safely placed next to a crack tooth with apparently large radiolucency.
