After extraction of the distal residual root at #19 (Fig.1), osteotomy is initiated in the mesial (M) aspect of the distal socket (Fig.2).  Magic Split proves dense bone.   The gingiva blocks complete seating of the 10 mm parallel pin because of the stop.  The long coronal portion of the IS parallel pin cannot be used to check occlusion.  Next surgery, place two DIO parallel pins (the shortest and marked) in the IS surgical kit.
