Perio Bruxism I
A 53-year-old man requests extraction of #30 and 31 post-SRP (Fig.1 (*: furca radiolucency). There is severe hemorrhage from the sockets post extraction, which makes bone graft difficult (Fig.2). Osteogen plug should have been used in stead of Ossogen. The socket openings are closed with 12x12 and 8x8 mm BioXclude and 4-0 PGA. The root curvature of the tooth #29 (Fig.2 *) suggests bruxism. The sockets heal 12 days postop (Fig.3). The septum at #30 (Fig.1 *) remains 6 months postop. Be wary of deviation off the septum during osteotomy. Bone density at #30 and 31 is high (1400-1700 units, Fig.5,6). Be careful of bone heat during osteotomy. It appears that cortical taps are pending.
