Narrow Ridge at Lower Canine

A 44-year-old woman will return for #22/23 (fusion) extraction and implant 2.5 months after one at #25 (Fig.1).  If the mesiodistal width of the extraction socket(s) is not particularly wide, one implant will be placed.  The tooth #22 seems to be buccally positioned (Fig.2 B).  After extraction (Fig.3 black area), initiate osteotomy lingually (red line).  Since the spongy bone is not wide buccolingually, a 3 mm implant appears to be appropriate (Fig.4).

In fact, #22/23 mesiodistal width is ~ twice of that of an incisor (Fig.5).  It is apparently more proper to place two smaller 1-piece implants (Fig.6) or a larger 2-piece one (Fig.7,8 (change to tissue-level one)).
