Implant in 2nd Molar
Measurement of the socket of #15 is done to determine the size of implant to be placed immediately after extraction. Fig.1 is a section showing the mesiodistal dimension of the 2nd molar, whereas Fig.2 and 3 are axial and coronal sections at the midroot level, respectively. Is 8x11 mm screw implant appropriate?
In fact, a tapered tap of 8x14 mm was used (Fig.4 T) before the implant of equivalent size was placed (Fig.5: I). The patient and the implant are doing fine after surgery. No bone loss is noted 4 years 4 months post cementation (Fig.6).
